Gigantic Oyster Social Sundays + Nevørmind Oyster Stout Release – Sunday January 29th

Back in the summer of 2014, there was a pop-up oyster purveyor known as Fosters Craft Cooking that served up its delicious oysters at various breweries in town. Since that time the oyster provider changed names to Tournant and set up shop at 920 NE Glisan Street.

Now Tournant is returning to one of these breweries it use to shuck and sell oysters in 2014, Gigantic Brewing. Beginning on Sunday, January 29th and continuing every Sunday through the end of February, Jaret Foster and Mona Johnson of Tournant will host Oyster Social Sundays at Gigantic Taproom & Champagne Lounge.

Back in the early days when Fosters Craft Cooking now known as Tournant hosted an Oyster Social at Gigantic Brewing under the late afternoon sun in 2014.

Beginning this Sunday from Noon until 4:00pm, come as you are to the inaugural Oyster Social Sunday that launches the Gigantic Taproom & Champagne Lounge release of the brewery’s new Nevørmind Oyster Stout. The team at Gigantic Brewing traveled to Netarts Bay, just southwest of Tillamook, Oregon to acquire some of Oregon’s best oysters from Nevør Shellfish Farm.

Upon the return to Portland, Gigantic Brewing added 12 dozen of these oysters along with 45 liters of oyster “liquor” to brew of Nevørmind Oyster Stout. This oyster stout is a collaboration beer brewed with Uptown Market for Saturday’s #PDXNOW Presents Base Camp’s Collabofest. The beer is described as roasty and chocolatey, with subtle mineral and briney notes. It pairs perfect with fresh oysters on the half shell, shucked to order from Tournant.

Nevørmind Oyster Stout is one half of the two breweries Surf N’ Turf collaboration as the two breweries collaborated on an oyster mushroom saison called Taming of the Shroom at Uptown Market Brewery. Both beers are draft only and will be on tap at Saturday’s Collabofest at Base Camp Brewing.
