OMSI & Widmer Collaboration Beer Dinner

Science, beer and food will come to the forefront when Oregon Museum of Science and Industry partners with Widmer Brothers Brewing for the OMSI & Widmer Collaboration Beer Dinner. This rare event will take place on Wednesday, October 11th at OMSI.

OMSI partnered with Widmer Brothers Brewing’s Innovation Brewhouse to brew a beer with fossils. Similar in process to a traditional German stein bier where heated rocks are used, this process used fossils instead. The fossils were collected by kids from OMSI’s Camp Hancock and delivered to Widmer where they heated up the fossils and rocks to caramelize the beer.

To celebrate the release of Fossil Fuel Amber Lager, a three course beer pairing dinner is being created by Bon Appetit’s Executive Chef, Kit Zhu. Also involved in the dinner is Widmer Brothers Innovation brewermaster, Thomas Bleigh.

The evening will begin at 6:00pm (doors at 5:45pm) with a look behind the scenes at how this beer came to together, followed by a 3-course dinner paired with Widmer Brother Brewing beers at 6:30pm. Each course will be paired with an 8oz beer.
