The Tap & Growler Eugene Beer Week Events

With the 5th Annual Eugene Beer Week kicking off today, Monday, June 1st thru Sunday June 7th, The Tap & Growler will be hosting a weeks worth of events. All week long they’ll be hosting a Blind Tasting featuring 13 Eugene area breweries. But to compliment this daily feature there will be events with Viking Braggot, Lompoc Brewing and Maryhill Winery, Corvallis Night, and Barley Brown’s. Sounds like an excellent week to be in Eugene.

Here’s a rundown of the events at The Tap & Growler.

Monday, June 1st – Sunday, June 7th – Eugene’s Best Brew Blind Taste Off Series
T&G is bringing back their Eugene’s Best Brew Blind Taste Off Series with their 2nd Annual Eugene’s Best Hoppy Brew Blind Taste Off with 13 Eugene area breweries. This event goes all week long from Monday to Sunday and is open to anyone, patrons vote on his or her favorite 3.

Tuesday, June 2nd- Hoppy Beets Release Party
T&G is collaborating on the 3rd version of Hoppy Beets with Viking Braggot Company. This brew is specially made for the T&G Tuesday Night Group Run. They’re working on perfecting a thirst quenching, sessionable brew with beets, quinoa, honey and some more Mosaic hops. Begins at 6:00pm.

Wednesday, June 3rd – Lompoc Brewing and Maryhill Winery Dinner
To help celebrate Eugene Beer Week, the Tap & Growler is hosting a wine barrel aged beer vs the wine that came from the same barrels food-pairing event with Lompoc Brewing and Maryhill Winery. This is the third beer vs wine food-pairing event, but the first pairing wine barrel aged beer and the wine from the same barrels. This will be a ticketed event in The Tap & Growler’s Barrel Room; tickets are $25 and very limited, first come first served. The Tap & Growler’s wine steward and former Chef, Sara Sweatt, will make the food pairings listed below.

  • Franc’ly Brewdolph – This Belgian style Red ale was aged in Maryhill Winery Cabernet Franc barrels for 10 months and then blended with the non-barrel aged version of the same beer at 7.7% ABV. Paired with Roasted wild mushrooms & asparagus over cheesy rosemary polenta.
  • Syrah Barrel Aged Forbidden Fruit – This Belgian style Saison had black currants added at the end of fermentation. It was brewed in collaboration with Bazi Bierbrasserie and aged in Maryhill Winery Syrah barrels for 3 months at 5.9% ABV. Paired with Spiced pork with Asian slaw on brioche toast.
  • Port Barrel Aged Big Bang Red – Brewed in January 2013 and aged in Maryhill Winery Port barrels for 6 months at 8.0% ABV. Paired with Fresh mixed berries with cinnamon maple whipped cream & dark chocolate shortbreads.

Thursday, June 4th – Corvallis Invades Eugene Beer Week
Nectar Creek Honeywines, 2 Towns Ciders, and Flat Tail Brewery are combining for a tap attack and release party. Nectar Creek is releasing their barrel aged Reserve #4 and Flat Tail is releasing the only keg, outside of their brewpub, of a yet to be named strawberry sour. (5:00-8:00pm)

Friday, June 5th – Barley Brown’s Happy Hour Tap Attack
T&G will have 6 taps of Barley Brown’s including Pallet Jack IPA, Ratchet Strap IPA, Forklift Double IPA and more! (3:00-6:00pm)
