SipSup Social Glassware Kickstarter

SipSup Lifestyle

With a little over 20 days to go on its Kickstarter campaign, SipSup is the first social glassware that will enable communication between a smartphone and the SipSup glass. From there users can view, share, and upload photos and videos to commemorate idyllic life moments.

Founded by Anže Volovšek, Aleš Perme, and Miha Petek, SipSup’s 42-day campaign has a funding goal of $30,000 that will be used to begin mass production and development of the social photo album activated by an embedded chip within the carefully crafted glass. As SipSup continues to seek funds it currently needs well over $27,000 to reach its goal in its remaining 20+ days.

Using a specialized NFC chip (for Android) and Visual ID (for iOS) to enable communication between a smartphone and the SipSup glass. SipSup is the first mobile connected drinking glass, collecting moments when people drop by. Hanging out with our friends often ends up with numerous photos on our smartphones. Very rarely though do all these photos end up in one place. This is why the founders created SipSup, a photo album in a glass.

SipSup glass unlocks the moments dropped in the App via visual ID. Visual ID is a form of visual scanning. In order to activate the SipSup app, the user has to scan the SipSup logo on the chip. Activation is possible in the range up to 5cm (0,4 inches). Every visual ID on SipSup is unique and it recognizes its owner’s smartphone.

SipSup is a 16oz uniquely designed in collaboration with local Slovenian glassworks, Steklarna Hrastnik. All glassware from the company has a Vitrux certificate, which guarantees that products can be washed up to 3,000 times in a dishwasher without retaining a single scratch. The glass is free of heavy metals and yet achieves brilliance of the crystal.

Not exactly sure what SipSup’s demographic is for this glass. From its lack of funding we feel that we are not the only ones a bit confused. Find out more about SipSup and its Kickstarter campaign by clicking here.
