Brewpublic's Annual KillerBeerWeek Returns Bigger and Better Than Ever with More Venues and More Events

Brewpublic celebrates 5 years with 10 days and 12 events in October 18-27, 2013.

Since we kicked off this website in the fall of 2008, Brewpublic has been committed to celebrating the wonderful craft beer and the people who make it what it is. Focused mostly on Oregon and the Pacific Northwest, Brewpublic has had the great pleasure of meeting so many passionate and talented people who serve as the backbone to the region’s burgeoning craft beer community. Focusing on events and showcasing the plenitude of beers from a myriad of styles has always been at the core of what we have been trying to do here at Brewpublic. With Killer Beer Week, which began humbly in 2009 with two event, our 1st Brewniversary celebration at Saraveza Bottleshop and Pasty Tavern and KillerBeerFest at Bailey’s Taproom, before growing into a five-day and then eight-day hullabaloo, the now 10-day, 12-event conviviality of great local beer looks to highlight a portion of our finest craft beer establishments with some amazing offerings.

For 2013’s Killer Beer Week (KBW), we’ve added two of our favorite Eugene craft beer establishments to the mix as well as a few more from Portland. The fun and festive features of KBW ’13 begins at Roscoe’s Pub on Friday October 18 before a weekend at the Green Dragon’s Killer Pumpin Festival that will, for the first time, take to the streets. Other highlights of KBW ’13 include our Killer IPA Tasting at NWIPA, Killer Bend Beer Fest at Bridgetown Beerhouse, Killer Eugene and Corvallis Beer Fest at Hillboro’s newest craft beer destination Orenco Taphouse, before closing out with the week’s biggest jamborees including our 5th Brewniversary Celebration at Saraveza, and the storied Killer Beer Fest at Bailey’s Taproom. There’s much more. So much more. This year, we’ve added two events in Eugene, Oregon including a Tea Beer Fest at 16 Tons, and a paralleling Killer Beer Fest at the new Bier Stein.

Brewpublic team’s up with one of our favorite craft beer pubs in Portland for the kick-off to the whole she-bang known as Killer Beer Week. Publicans Jeremy Lewis and Quyen Ly have put their initially unassuming pub on the map by offering more than 16 of the finest craft beers on the the planet on draft as well as billiards, vintage pinball and some great eats. You can bet your sweet Bock that you will find an array of mind-blowing specialties from Oregon and beyond here. On this night the perma-fest turns it up to “11” with some exclusive and uber-delicious goodies you are not going to want to miss! Looks for limited and special releases from Pints, Breakside, Stone, Gigantic, Worthy, Laurelwood, Commons, Hopworks, and several others!

Killer Pumpkin Festival

Now in it’s third year, The Green Dragon takes to the streets to make their Killer Pumpkin Festival even more killer than ever! Closing down 9th Ave for this year we’ve partnered with Camp Ukandu, a non-profit for children diagnosed with cancer, and are moving to the street this year as part of a two day festival. One of the biggest pumpkin festivals in the region (tip of the hat to Elysian Brewing), here’s a look at what we have going on in 2013:

With Hillsboro, Oregon establishing itself more and more as a craft beer destination with breweries like Vertigo and Ambacht in the mix, husband and wife publican duo Dirk and Tammy Baker left everyday work to follow a deep passion for craft beer. Now, their killer Orenco Taphouse is thee spot to hit up in Hillsboro. With 20 rotating taps, the 1,500 square-foot pub will turn into a tastival for some of Central Willamette Valley’s best craft breweries. Many seldom found breweries from the Eugene and Corvallis area will include Falling Sky, Claim 52, Plank Town, and Agrarian Ales as well as well known and beloved favorites such as Ninkasi, Oakshire, Flat Tail, and 2 Towns Cider. There will be many more so, get a designated driver or hop on the Max light rail train (Orenco is right off the NW 231 stop). This event will be a great opportunity for folks to check out this awesome new pub as well as an absolute highlight of this year’s Killer Beer Week!
