The latest brewery to join in the craft cider craze is 10 Barrel Brewing Co. from its R&D Brewery within its Bend production brewery. This is a program that has been in the making for over the past few years from Tonya Cornett. Back at the end of October Brewpublic mentioned this project along with a few others that are on the horizon from 10 Barrel Brewing.

Prior to 10 Barrel Brewing being purchased by brewing Goliath Anheuser-Busch InBev a year ago, Cornett has been patiently perfecting her cider recipe. Cornett that approached the original ownership to inquire about the possibility of developing a cider that is, “As approachable as possible.”

To start this cider making process Cornett handpicked Pink Lady and Granny Smith apples from a small apple orchard in Yakima, Washington. From there 10 Barrel purchases the pressed apple juice and then fermented it to create what is said to be strong champagne characteristics. From this the new cider is properly named Bubbly.

The release party for Bubbly will take place at both Oregon 10 Barrel Brewing locations in Bend and in Portland on Thursday, December 17. The Bend festivities will begin from 3:00 to 7:00pm at its Bend Pub when it’s mini pub will be out front with cider tastings. Then at 6:00pm both locations will offer the official toast to its new cider offering, Bubbly.

Further on down the road look for 6-pack 12 oz bottles offering of Bubbly come Spring 2016. The plan is to distribute Bubbly throughout its entire distribution footprint.
