Pacific NW Brew Cup Hits Astoria

As the comfortably warm days slip through our fingers, our craft beer consuming begins to move its way indoors. However, it seems that Mother Nature still has a few daylight hours of outdoor quaffing in store for us. The organizers of this year’s Pacific Northwest Brew Cup in Astoria, Oregon have been aware of this and have planned one of the best craft beer events of the year.

Where last year’s Cup was held in the block up the hill from the Columbia River’s mouth by Fort George Brewery, this year, the festival will occur along the waterfront of Marine Drive, next to the Astoria Maritime Museum. This will allow for some breath taking views of one of Oregon, Washington, and the majestic and mighty River. While sea lions’ barks are echoed from a nearby Pier 39, the weather, according to the seers, looks quite promising (highs reaching the 70s on Saturday). Is there really anywhere better for Beer Geeks or Goonies?

Attendees will have the opportunity to try beers from more than three-dozen Northwest craft breweries while enjoying live music and vendors selling food and other goods. Described as an Oktoberfest-type party will be your chance to sample some of the best seasonally available beers like Fort George’s Hopstoria Fresh Hop Ale. You might even get a glimpse of the astounding work done to grow their brewery just up the hill (where past Cups were held). We’ll see you there!

The Pacific NW Cup happens Noon-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, at Astoria’s Waterfront Park (next to the Maritime Museum in magical Astoria, Oregon) For more information, call 1-800-875-6807
