Widmer Brothers Brewing to Host 8th Annual Widmer Oktoberfest

Widmer Brothers Brewing’s Oktoberfest returns for its eighth year celebrating Munich-style ales and German food and music. This year, the brewery is extending the festivities to two days, it will take place Friday, Sept. 7 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 8 from 1 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at Widmer Brothers Brewing Co.

WHAT:           Widmer Brothers Oktoberfest is a tribute to the world-renowned celebration in Munich, Germany, which draws more than six million people annually during the 16-day festival. Widmer Brothers’ version, although smaller in scale, is large in Oktoberfest spirit, drawing 5,000 attendees to this annual block party. The festival features a variety of craft beers, German-style food, accordion players, and live music throughout the day including Friday performances by Portland Cello Project and Sami Rouissi Band; and Saturday performances by Con Bro Chill, Quiet Life, Brownish Black, Tango Alpha Tango.

WHEN:          Friday, Sept. 7 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 8 from 1 to 11:00 p.m.

WHERE:        Widmer Brothers Brewery is located at 929 N. Russell Ave. Parking is extremely limited and public transportation is highly encouraged.

COST:            Admission to Widmer Brothers Oktoberfest is free; however, a souvenir stein is required for consuming beer. Attendees can also bring steins from previous years to the event. All beer and food is purchased with tokens, which cost $1 each. Patrons pay six tokens for a souvenir stein, five tokens for a full stein of beer and food items are $1 to $7. Sales of steins and tokens end at 10:30 p.m.
