Abe Fest!

The great thing about the Portland craft beer scene is that most of us have each others backs. We look out for our own like it’s one big family. Sure there’s always a few folks in any circle who like to toot their own horn, but on the whole, we here in Beervana take care of our own.

Abram and his catOn Sunday September 4, 2011, Bailey’s Taproom will host an event to benefit local craft beer champion and Portland Timbers soccer hooligan Abram “Abe” Goldman-Armstrong. Abe, not too long back, injured his knee badly and required surgery. This is not only a rare treat because it is on a day that Bailey’s is not normally open, it is also because all of the proceeds go directly to our friend Abe.

Several local breweries have contributed kegs for this event, and Read More…

Geoff Phillips (left) with Michael O'Connor (center), and Scott Jester of Bailey's Taproom

On Saturday August 6, 2011 Bailey’s AnniBrew yet again rocks your palate and blows your mind.

Those who know Bailey’s Taproom in downtown Portland probably know it for its wide spanning selection of craft beer from around the Pacific Northwest. Proprietor and chief publican Geoff Phillips founded the pub on the corner of SW Broadway and Ankeny just a stone’s throw from Tugboat Brewpub and Mary’s Place. Since then, Phillips and his team of deeply knowledgeable beertenders have lead the charge in Portland’s dominance as the world’s best craft beer city.

With 20 constantly rotating taps that never seem to repeat, Bailey’s is a dream destination for any craft beer lover. For Bailey’s fourth hoorah, Read More…

Weekend In Review

Taster tray at Upright Brewing Company

The weekend came and went with such celerity that, when chewing the cud, it appears to have moved with the fervor of one devoid of last minute tax filing work. An old adage asserts that there are only two certainties in this world: death and taxes. Well, death happens only but once and sees to an end of its own condition for he who is of its grasp. Elseways, taxes are an annual quibble that returns to haunt us just as we’ve survived the throes of winter.

As mentioned, the past weekend wasn’t without a bit of stress, but once the final tax hurdles were cleared, all seems good in the world…that is until next April (however, if apocalyptic prophecies are fulfilled early enough in 2012, we may be spared of one of these certainties). So, yeah, the weekend… Read More…

Bailey’s Taproom‘s 1st annual GermanFest is almost upon us! This year’s festivities will be held on Saturday, April 16th and will feature German style beers brewed by Oregon breweries. General admission, including a souvenir stein and five tokens, begins at 4 PM and will be sold at the door the day of the festivities for $15.

Bailey's TaproomThis 1st annual GermanFest will have participating beers from Alameda, Bend, Breakside, Block 15, Burnside, Coalition, Columbia River, Flat Tail, Heater Allen, Hopworks, Laurelwood, Lompoc, Oakshire, Seven Brides, Upright, and Vertigo. “By popular demand, we also have a limited number of advance Pre-Sale tickets for $25″ says Bailey’s owner Geoff Phillips. “These tickets include the same souvenir stein and five tokens but also allow entrance two hours earlier from 2-4 PM, providing a less frenzied experience as well as guaranteeing a seat somewhere in a far less crowded bar.” You can purchase these advance tickets on this page.
