Friday was our first day at the Craft Brewers Conference in San Diego, CA. Things kicked off with a keynote speech by Chairman and President of Brooklyn Brewery, Steve Hindy. Oregon and Washington Winners at 2012 World Beer Cup

The 2012 World Beer Cup that coincided with the Craft Brewers Conference in San Diego, California was a wonderful experience. Featuring some of the most talented taste makers in the craft beverage industry, this bi-annual award ceremony ranks at the top along with the Great American Beer Festival as the most prestigious award ceremony beheld by craft beer brewers in North America. Brewers Association Releases 2010 Top 50 Breweries Lists

The Brewers Association, the not-for-profit trade group that tabulates production statistics for U.S. breweries, released its annual lists reporting the top 50 brewing companies in the country, based on 2010 beer sales volume. The two lists are the Top 50 Craft Brewing Companies, comprising small and independent craft brewers,¹ and the Top 50 Overall Brewing Companies. Thirty-six of the top 50 brewing companies are small and independent craft brewing companies.

“At more than 1,700, the number of breweries in the U.S. is higher than any time since the late 1800s,” said Paul Gatza, director of the Brewers Association. “Beer lovers’ appreciation for American craft brewers and their craft beers continue to grow.”

Road To The Craft Brewers Conference In San Francisco – Part 2

Lagunitas Beer Sanctuary

Back then there was a modest rec room aloft to the brewing facility, but now, there was a magnificent new beer hall known as the Lagunitas TapRoom and Beer Sanctuary. This grand expansion effort came to light in 2009 and has since been pleasing the locals and thirsty travelers ever since.

Through an iron gateway and down a path toward the sound of riffing guitar and bouncing bass, we entered the party. Road to the Craft Brewers Conference in San Francisco – Part 1

Craft Brewers Conference

Brewpublic arrived on the scene at the 2011 Craft Brewers Conference & BrewExpo America on Thursday March 24, one day after some of the initial events had taken place. After an early departure on Wednesday from Portland, Oregon by car, we soon came to be reminded how far away this great city was from us.

In good conditions, and without excessive traffic, the drive typically takes between ten-and-a-half and eleven hours to complete (and obviously longer if you stop to eat, fuel-up, and take in the sights).
