Hawthorne Hophouse Anniversary Party

The Hawthorne Hophouse 1-year anniversary party is this Saturday 10/22/11.

Info from the Hophouse:

“The party will feature an outside tented beer garden in our giant parking lot, lots of schwag and raffles. $10 gets you admission, all-you-can eat buffet of our stellar happy hour food and a pint. After that, all our sponsors’ beer (mostly everything) is $3/pint. Party is mainly being sponsored by Oakshire Brewing of Eugene, brewers of the infamous Overcast Espresso Stout. We’ll have at least four of their kegs on taps, including what will be the newly-released Ill-Tempered Gnome, one of our favorite beers last winter. And of course 20 other fresh local beers on tap.”

“First 100 entrants will win awesome door prizes, such as gift cards to our new location (15th Avenue), T-shirts from your favorite breweries, glassware from your favorite breweries, etc. And we’ll be holding raffles every 30 minutes throughout the day for gift certificates and lots of other good stuff.”

Live music from 6 – 8pm from Portland band Bitterroot.

They feature 24 taps of mostly Oregon beers, offer a simple affordable food menu, and book local live music. Both locations, under the umbrella Oregon Hophouse name, plan to continue serving local craft beer and food in a family friendly environment, and booking live local music. Lompoc’s Fresh Hop Beers

Lompoc will release two fresh hop beers this Friday at Sidebar from 4 to 11 pm. We look forward to trying these!

From Lompoc: “We’ll be serving Crystal Missile Fresh Hop Pale Ale, brewed with 100 pounds of wet Crystal hops direct from Sodbuster Farms. This beer is golden hued with a huge earthy hop aroma and crisp fresh hop flavor that dominates throughout. Brewer Zach used his Lompoc Hop Press method, resulting in the quintessential fresh hop beer.  We’ll also be pouring Fresh Hop Harvest Man Red, brewed with 100 pounds of fresh Crystal hops. It’s malty and full-bodied with a deep, rich red color.

As with all of our release parties, there will be free appetizers! We’ll also be serving up Monster Mash, an Imperial porter featuring strong chocolate and roast flavors with a touch of red fruit; Bierz Brown, a dark brown ale with a malty body and strong chocolate and roast flavors; Franc’ly Brewdolph, a Belgian-style red ale fermented with the Belgian Ardennes yeast strain itwo years ago and aged in Maryhill Winery Cabernet Franc barrels for 13 months. It was then blended in a tank with last year’s Brewdolph, resulting in a creamy and malty body, a mild fruitiness and a spicy oak flavor; and C-Note.”

Friday Night, Tasting Right

Here’s a couple recommendations for tonight, Friday March 25th. Another lovely night for craft beer in Beervana. Enjoy.
The 2nd Annual Roscoe’s IPA Summit begins tonight at 4 PM.  Some of the Breweries (and beers) included will be: Hopworks (Ace of Spades), Laurelwood (Imperial Workhorse), Fort George (Sixteenth Chapel), Russian River (Pliny the Elder and Blind Pig), Prodigal Son (Splendor in the Glass), Avery (Maharaja), Cascade (Spring Solstice IPA), Lompoc (Nitro C-Note), New Belgium/Elysian (Trip VIII), and many more.
Roscoe’s will have 5 ounce tasters available so that you can try a little of each brew.  There will also be brewers in attendance to answer questions about the beers.

The Lompoc Sidebar will be serving up some delicious brews tonight and tomorrow night. Dagda, a Pan-Gaelic red ale featuring a malty body with caramel flavors, a touch of smoke and a tart finish; Dry Hop Condor Pale Ale, a crisp and nicely hopped pale ale that’s been dry hopped with whole leaf Crystals; Brewdolph, a Belgian style red ale brewed with the Belgian Ardennes yeast strain that boasts a malty & creamy body, a mild fruitiness and a spicy clove character; Merlot Barrel Aged Norman Invasion, a Biere de Garde aged for nine months in a Maryhill Winery merlot barrel. It’s extremely dry with lots of oak, wine notes, and a hint of sourness; Proletariat Red, a malty and full bodied red ale with a deep, rich red color; and Fool’s Golden Ale, our light, refreshing session beer that blends malted wheat and Crystal hops. Sidebar is open Friday 4-10 pm and Saturday, 2-10 pm.
