Seattle Beer Week 2013: Scenes from Oregon Brewers Night

Naked City Taphouse in Seattle hosted this year’s Oregon Brewers Night during Seattle Beer Week. Founder and Brewmaster Don Webb served as emcee for this fun event featuring a nice assortment of beers from some of the Beaver State’s finest breweries.

In addition to six house offerings from Webb and Naked City, Oregon was represented by three different brews from each of the participating breweries including Deschutes, Fort George, Ninkasi, Oakshire, Double Mountain and Burnside Brewing. Brewers from 10 Barrel Brewing made an appearance as well. Notable brewers such as 10 Barrel’s Tonya Cornett, Oakshire’s Matt Van Wyk, and Ninkasi’s Jamie Floyd were in attendance for this fun event. Craft Beer Weeks Focus Nationally and Locally

Beer Weeks Galore

Seems these days there’s a beer festival every weekend. Moreover, there are several beer weeks being organized nationwide to celebrate our world’s burgeoning interest in craft brew. May 14-20 marks American Craft Beer Week, a nationwide celebration of artisan brewing. This week-long celebration, according to CraftBeer.com “offers an exciting opportunity for small and independent craft brewers and the community of better beer retailers to celebrate the ever advancing beer culture here in the U.S. Plus, tens of thousands of today’s beer beginners, beer enthusiasts, and hard core beer geeks make time to toast the week.” Look for many regional toasts highlighted by tastings and events to pop off in 2012.

Elysian Brewing Releases “Peste” and “Split Shot”

Elysian Peste Chocolate Chili Stout

Elysian Brewing of Seattle, WA is releasing the next brew from their 12 Beers of the Apocalypse Series. This beer is a chocolate chili stout called “Peste.” Utilizing the artwork of Charles Burns from his Fantagraphic Book Black Hole, Peste is a beer described as “brewed wtih cocoa, cinnamon and a blend of chipotle, cayenne, ancho, guajillo and pasilla peppers. Infecetiously good – Pass it on.

Peste will make its Portland debut at Concordia Ale House on April 21, 2012 at 11AM. The beer will soon after be available in 22-ounce bottles and draught throughout the Pacific Northwest wherever tasty craft brew is sold.
