3rd Annual Brews for New Avenues Returns Tomorrow, September 6th

3rd Annual Brews for New Avenues

Brews for New Avenues returns to Portland tomorrow for its 3rd year that will feature some of the world’s rarest beers. This annual event is held in part to assist in raising funds for the New Avenues for Youth. This year’s event organizers have secured a new, more elegant space at the Leftbank Annex, across the street from Upright Brewing, that will take place from 5:00 to 10:30pm.

Some of Oregon’s most sought-after beers will be at the third annual Brews for New Avenues (BFNA), the nonprofit beer event that hosts Portland’s only live auction of unique craft beers. Oregon breweries and private collectors are partnering with New Avenues for Youth’s ambassador board to produce an all-star auction list that is garnering national attention from beer writers and enthusiasts, including Hair of the Dog’s Dave (single bottles sell for $2,000 at other auctions), three bottles from de Garde and Deschutes’ The Abyss (2006 – 2013 full vertical).

Brews for New Avenues will have on tap over 40 international and domestic craft beer kegs, including Cantillon’s Iris and de Struise’s Imperialist, alongside Cascade’s Honey Ginger Lime, Upright’s Engelberg and 10 Barrel’s Uberlliner (an imperial version of “German Sparkle Party Berlinerweisse” and has never been sold in the Portland market).

Entry is only $10 for those that are 21 years old or older and all proceeds benefit New Avenues for Youth. Purchase your tickets online here before 5:00pm today, September 5th to receive a 2nd complimentary beer.

The full list of beers is quite amazing. The VIP session in the afternoon has long been sold out but there’s a strong chance that a few of those kegs will be pouring for the evening session that gets underway beginning at 5:oopm.

Cantillon (Iris), Brouwerij de Molen (Tsarina Esra Imperial Porter), De Struise Brouwers (Imperialist), Tilquin (Gueuze – draft version) and Mikkeller (7 kegs: Pallisade, Bravo, Magnum, Galena, Mt. Hood, Cluster, Tettnanger).

Additional highlights include beer-centric raffle items, chocolate stout beer floats, and food carts including People’s Pig and Pulehu Pizza. There will also be live music from The Get Ahead and The Sentiments.

New Avenues for Youth’s ambassador board is looking to build on the success of last year’s event, which raised $23,000 for local homeless youth and attracted 500 attendees. With this year’s larger space lets all show our support on Saturday and bid on some impressive beers.
