Fort George Divinity

The imaginative folks at Fort George Brewing in Astoria have a new seasonal beer on tap. “Divinity.” According to proprietor and brewer Chris Nimlowill “It’s a big raspberry Belgian Trappist Style Ale and it’s really tasty.” Nimlowill is excited about his new brew that was made for Wednesday’s Belgian beer dinner.  The 6.5% ABV Divinity may be one of the few raspberry beers from the Northwest this year, considering a shortage that hit the market.  The scant harvest of the fruit forced McMenamins Ruby Ale to be put on hiatus for 2008 and be replaced with a blackberry seasonal.  Nimlowill concludes that Divinity is “dry,  light on the raspberry but definitely there, mostly comes across as a golden Belgian ale with a raspberry finish. We used about 90% Pilsner malt, 5% bobs red mill steel cut Oatmeal. and 5% organic turbinado sugar and specialty malts.”
