StormBreaker Brewing Releases Bourbon + Rye Barrel-Aged Winter Coat
As the daylight each day dwindles, one thing that can make up for it are big, bold barrel-aged beers. One local brewery, StormBreaker Brewing, has just released two variants of barrel aged versions of its popular winter seasonal, Winter Coat.
For its 2023 vintages, StormBreaker Brewing has released Bourbon Barrel-Aged Winter Coat and Rye Barrel-Aged Winter Coat. And for the very first time, the brewery has released these barrel-aged beers in 16oz cans.
Another first is that StormBreaker Brewing aged its Winter Coat for 12 months in not one type of barrel, but two! This will bring complex subtleties to enjoy all winter long. Last year’s Winter Coat, brewed with pomegranate and rum soaked figs, was then aged in bourbon and rye barrels. For the bourbon version, StormBreaker used Bull Run Distilling bourbon barrels and for the rye version, Rose City Distilling James Oliver Rye barrels.
Here are the descriptions of the two versions as provided by StormBreaker Brewing.
Bourbon Barrel Aged Winter Coat 2023
Our 2023 Barrel Aged Winter Coat is brewed with pomegranate and dark rum soaked figs and aged in Bull Run Distilling Bourbon barrels for a year. Dark fruit, chocolate and caramel notes, with hints of vanilla provide by the Bourbon barrels.

Rye Barrel Aged Winter Coat 2023
Our 2023 Barrel Aged Winter Coat is brewed with pomegranate and dark rum soaked figs and aged in Rose City Distilling James Oliver Rye barrels for a year. Dark fruit, chocolate and caramel notes, with hints of spice provide by the Rye barrels.
