10th Annual Oregon Craft Beer Month Begins July 1st
One of our favorite months to be living in Oregon as a fan of craft beer is the month of July. When the warmer weather returns here in the month of July, we know that it’s officially Oregon Craft Beer Month!
With the changing of the calendar from June to July, Oregon Craft Beer Month is an amazing time to be in Oregon. For our beloved state we just cannot fit all of our amazing beer and its culture into one week. This is why the Oregon Brewers Guild declared July to be Oregon Craft Beer Month ten years ago.
This month long party celebrates its 10th year and will feature well over 450 events during the month’s 31 days. “There’s never been a better time to celebrate craft beer in Oregon,” says Brian Butenschoen, executive director of the Oregon Brewers Guild. “We have 230 breweries for you to visit and nearly 500 events at local breweries, pubs, restaurants and grocery stores.”
Something new for 2015 is the inaugural Portland Craft Beer Festival, at The Fields Park July 3-5, 2015. This new festival will showcase more than 100 craft beers from at least 57 breweries, all of which have a location within Portland’s city limits. During this same weekend Fort George Brewery returns with its 4th of July 3-Day 3-Way Weekend.
The craft beer culture reaches far beyond the Portland area and encompasses the entire state. With the clear blue skies of July it’s a great time to venture out on a few road trips. Visit Oregon’s largest beer trail located in Bend and check out the Ale Trails in Eugene, Eastern Oregon, Breweries in the Gorge, Southern Oregon, and North Coast.
As usual OCBM ends in excellent fashion with the return of the nation’s largest craft beer festival, the 28th annual Oregon Brewers Festival, July 22-26, 2015 at Waterfront Park. Celebrate 28 years of craft beer with 90 different beers from around the U.S., as well as a dozen from New Zealand and the Netherlands! It’s the perfect ending to a month-long celebration of Oregon’s craft beverage of choice.
