8th Annual Corvallis Septembeerfest
Corvallis, Oregon is home to Oregon State University that has a rich history in brewing from its agricultural roots and its more recent Fermentation Science Program. The college town will celebrate its beer culture when Corvallis Beer Week returns from September 11-19. The showcase event of Corvallis Beer Week will once again be the Heart of Valley Homebrewers’ Septembeerfest presented by Block 15 Brewing Company, as it will celebrate its 8th anniversary on Saturday, September 12.
This year Septembeerfest has a new location as it has left the fairgrounds for the spacious 75-acre Avery Park just south of downtown Corvallis. Septembeerfest will take place from 1:00 to 9:00pm with over 60 beers to choose from on tap. The Beavers are on the road at “The Big House” in Ann Arbor, Michigan with kickoff scheduled for 9:00am so fans will have plenty of time to make their way to Avery Park for Septembeerfest.
Admission is $15.00 and includes a pint glass and 4 drink tokens; additional drink tokens are 4 for $5.00. Septembeerfest is a family friendly event; children under the age of 10 are admitted free with a paid adult. All other attendees must be 21 or older. Please no furry friends. Last year marked a fantastic Septembeerfest with record attendance of over 3,200 participants. The event featured an abundant selection of beer, cider and mead. The highlight of the entire event is that it raised over $27,500 for Linn-Benton Food Share, the Heart of the Valley Homebrewers’ Endowment at Oregon State University supporting scholarships in Fermentation Science, and the Glen Hay Falconer Foundation. Since 2006 Heart of the Valley Homebrewers, a non-profit organization, has donated over $87,000 to support a number of worthy local charities and organizations.
Without the support of the breweries, sponsors and the community Septembeerfest success would not have been possible.
