The month of July is proving to be a huge one at Bailey’s Taproom as the highly regarded downtown Portland taproom celebrates ten years in business on Saturday, July 29th. Leading up to the bar’s massive 10 Year Anniversary Block Party will be seven other events with beers from as near as Portland and as far away as the Swiss Alps.
Beyond the events with Pelican Brewing, Gigantic Brewing and its annual fundraiser for the National Brain Tumor Society, Trois Dames, Fort George and Finnriver Cider, Modern Times and Firestone Walker, Bailey’s will go all out when it hosts its 10 Year Anniversary Block Party on July 29th. Best of all every event is free to attend, just pay as you go for the beers ordered!
Here’s a rundown on events at Bailey’s Taproom and The Upper Lip throughout the month of July and beyond.
The Pelican Brief – Tuesday, July 11 (4:00-7:00pm) Bailey’s Taproom It’s Oregon Beer Month! We thought we’d celebrate with our good friends from the coast, Pelican Brewing, by hosting a special #Baileys10Year tap takeover featuring some very exciting brews. The Head Brewer will be in-house to answer questions and chat about Pelican. Featured Draft: Kentucky Pelican, Berried at Sea, Five Fin Pilsner, Sun Flare, Beak Breaker, Pelicano, Citracumulus, Udder Tugger – NITRO, Cherry Poppin’ Dory, Father of All Tsunamis, & Mother of All Storms!
Gigantic NBTS Fundraiser – Thursday, July 13 (4:00-7:00pm) Bailey’s Taproom
Gigantic is generously providing a firkin of Ginormous – MK2 (w/ Calista hops) to this year’s National Brain Tumor Society Fundraiser. This will simultaneously be the debut of the beer as the crew at Gigantic will be filling it that morning and dropping it off before the event to ensure maximum freshness! Also on tap: Gigantic’s 5th Anniversary Greatest Hits rebrew of Whole in the Head IIPA.
An Evening with Trois Dames – Tuesday, July 18 (4:00-10:00pm) The Upper Lip
Join us at The Upper Lip for a very special evening featuring one of Shelton’s favorite imported European breweries. Founded in 2002 in Sainte-Croix, Switzerland, Trois Dames has been experimenting with wild yeast, experimental ales, and various barrel-aged projects to much international acclaim. We’re excited to host them and learn more about their story! Featured draft list: Brett Saison, Grand Dame Oud Bruin, Saison Houblon, Vielle Saison, Blackwell collab Grisette, Freigeist collab Kirsch Gose.
Fort George/Finnriver: Shady Grove Release Party – Thursday, July 20 (5:00-8:00pm) Bailey’s Taproom
We’re throwing a release party for the new Fort George/Finnriver collaboration, Shady Grove! We’ll be debuting this on draft along with some more goodies from each establishment. And for those of you keeping score, both Bailey’s Taproom & Fort George turn 10 this year (Finnriver is set to celebrate their 10th in 2018!) so this will double as a birthday party of sorts, too… decorations and all! Expect a great tap list, balloons, cake, and MORE… from Fort George: “Shady Grove is the first collaboration in the Sweet Virginia Series. FINNRIVER CIDERY provided the sour cherry cider and Fort George brewed the sour saison. Both were aged in French oak barrels until the final blending took place. The result is a tart and effervescent cider + beer, reminiscent of a Flanders style. This single batch release will be available in limited amounts around the Pacific Northwest.”
Block 15/Bailey’s HausParty – Wednesday, July 26 (4:00-8:00pm) Bailey’s Taproom
We launched our Hausbier program last fall and we couldn’t be happier with the turnout of each project. For the Summer quarter, we asked the brewing wizards down in Corvallis, Block 15, if they’d help us out for our special Anniversary Edition of the Hausbier series. This easy-drinking IPA is being designed for summer sipping and will double as one of our #Baileys10Year collaborations. We thought this beer needed it’s own party so we’re making an event out of it. Expect a few other draft specialties and fancy labeled Block 15 Crowlers to-go!
Modern Times Fly! – Thursday, July 27 (4:00-8:00pm) Bailey’s Taproom
San Diego’s Modern Times landed in Oregon earlier this year and we just can’t get enough! Their sun-kissed Ales & Lagers are perfect for the warmer days of summer so we asked them if they’d like to help us throwdown a little party during OBF week. Modern Times Fly when you’re having fun!
Firestone Walker Anniversary Ale Vertical – Friday, July 28 The Upper Lip
If there’s any Anniversary we look forward to more than our own, it’s Firestone Walker’s. The influential American brewery releases a master blend of their barrel projects every year and we’ve been hoarding them for a special occasion. Join us for a vertical tapping of the Anniversary Ales, details soon!
10th Anniversary Block Party! – Saturday, July 29 (Noon-Close) Bailey’s Taproom + The Upper Lip
Ten years long, ten years strong… It’s been an awesome ride! Every year we like to throw a big birthday party as a thank you for our community’s support. It’s been tradition that we throw on a list full of rare barrel-aged beers and this year is no different. In fact, 11 of the 32 beers for this year’s fest are exclusive collaborations we helped create just for this event. Expect our usual Anniversary antics; games, food, expanded outdoor seating, and The Upper Lip VIP package. Draft list soon!
