Uptown Beer Co. Celebrates 13 Years On December 14, 2024
For the past 13 years, Uptown Beer Co. has been providing the community of Southwest Portland’s Raleigh Hills neighborhood with craft beer. To mark this special milestone, Uptown Beer Co. will host its 13th Anniversary Party on Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 6:00 – 9:000pm. The beloved SW Portland pub and bottleshop will mark the occasion with live music, raffles, burgers from MidCity Smashed Burger, and specialty beers including a collaboration lager brewed with Level Beer.
Originally known as Uptown Market when the business opened in 2011, the shop opened as a homebrew supply and bottleshop inside a converted convenience store in Southwest Portland near the Beaverton border. Since then the business has grown into a thriving local taproom. Then in 2018 it tweaked its name to Uptown Beer Co. to offer over 30 rotating beers on tap, pet-friendly indoor seating, an all-ages patio, and more than 700 chilled bottles and cans. “It’s incredible the amount of community we’ve built at Uptown that makes this all worth it,” says Uptown’s Managing Partner, Josh Johnson, “I’ve loved creating a space that is like our neighborhood: welcoming, quirky and always changing.”
“I have a distinct memory of my brother, Chris, and I working on a really bad snow day one of the first years Uptown was open. People were bundling up and snow shoeing to come get a beer. We’ve always strived to be that reliable, go-to spot for the community.” says one of Uptown’s original owners, AJ Shepherd.
Uptown has teamed up with Portland’s Level Beer to craft a special collaboration dry-hopped lager called Uptown From What?. In addition to this exclusive brew, several other Level beers will be featured on tap during the celebration. The anniversary event will also include live tunes from a local DJ, a group toast, and raffles with prizes including swag and a free year of Mug Club, Uptown’s waitlisted loyalty program. MidCity SmashedBurger, named Oregonian Reader’s Choice 4th Best Burger, will be showcasing their menu and specials as well.
