This past weekend, Oakshire Brewing released its first barrel-aged beer of the year with the annual release of Heart Shaped Box. This massive bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout is released yearly in time for Valentine’s Day.
The 2021 vintage of Heart Shaped Box was aged for nearly one year in former Basil Hayden barrels. After this rest, the beer was moved back into stainless where the addition of organic vanilla beans, organic cocoa nibs, coffee from Farmers Union Coffee Roasters was added prior to being finished on raspberry puree.
Heart Shaped Box pours a jet-black color with a dark tan head. All of these layers of ingredients create layers upon layers of flavor that comes in at an impressive 15% ABV! The perfect beer to ring in Valentine’s Day or welcome a cold winter evening with.
Wax dipped, 22oz bottles of 2021 Heart Shaped Box are now available at Oakshire Brewing locations in Eugene and Portland for $25.00. This beer is also available on tap along with 2020 Heart Shaped Box vintage bottles on sale at $30.00.
