Earlier today Widmer Brothers Brewing tapped the first of four new small-batch beers at its Pub with its new beer brewed with kumquats, So Quatcha Want. Then throughout the month of March, Widmer will be tapping Bury Me In Red, BRUtylicious (Three Weavers Brewing Collaboration), and Tall Paul Lager. All four of these beers are coming from the brewery’s Innovation Brewery that is located adjacent to the Widmer Brothers Pub.

Here’s a rundown on the four new small-batch releases with descriptions provided by the brewery.

So Quatcha Want
Now On Tap
Join us for the tapping of the latest beer to come out of the innovation system at Widmer Brothers, So ‘Quatcha Want. Widmer Brothers has experimented with citrus in beer since the early days of the brewery, and wanted to take it to the next level with the coolest tiny citrus on planet Earth, kumquats. So ‘Quatcha Want was brewed with 40 pounds of fresh kumquats to add tart and sweet flavors to compliment the peach and chardonnay aromas from the dry hops of Enigma and Eureka. Yeah, you can’t front on that! So ‘Quatcha Want! Prost!

Bury Me in Red
Tap Day: March 2, 2017
The Widmer Brothers Pub is tapping an exclusive Timbers small batch beer: “Bury Me in Red,” a hoppy session red ale fermented on Douglas Fir rounds, brewed for the March 3rd Season Opener at Providence Park. Widmer Brothers will be hosting a Happy Hour at the Widmer Pub on Thursday, March 2nd, from 4 – 6pm. Guests who buy a pint during the event will get a raffle ticket to win a pair of tickets for the home opener game the following day. Guests who wear Timbers gear during the Happy Hour will get $2 off crowler purchases. Timber Joey will also be in attendance for photos with fans. Bury Me in Red will be available at Providence Park for the opening game on March 3rd, as well. Come join us at the Pub as we get ready for opening day.

BRUtylicious (Three Weavers Collaboration)
Tap Day: March 9, 2017
The Widmer Brothers innovation brewing team recently got together with Alexandra (Alex) Nowell from Three Weavers Brewing Company, the acclaimed brewery located in Inglewood, CA, to brew an amazing double IPA called BRUtylicious. Alex visited Widmer Brothers’ 10-barrel brewery in Portland to conceive of and brew this double IPA, with flavors and aromas of ripe pineapple, peaches, and melon, made with Azacca, El Dorado, and the Pineapple fresh BRU-1 hops. A moderate bitterness and a lean body from the addition of dextrose round out BRUtylicious. Enjoy and Prost!

Tall Paul Lager
Tap Day: March 23, 2017
This project is near and dear to Widmer Brothers’ heart. The Widmer Brothers innovation brewing team has been working with Kenton businesses Salvage Works and Figure Plant, and a handful of Kenton bars, in an effort to clean up and paint the iconic Paul Bunyan statue. Widmer Brothers brewed a collaboration beer with the Paint Paul Project, a hopped-up California Common beer, which is a modern tweak on a historic recipe brewed to represent this historic preservation project. The beer will be available at the Widmer Brothers Pub, as well as the Parkside Pub, Kenton Club, Swift & Union, and Kenton Station, and Widmer Brothers is matching a $.50 donation of each pint sold to the Paint Paul Project. Join us for the tapping of this beer, or you can donate directly to the Paint Paul Project at anytime. Limited edition Paul Bunyan Timbers’ scarfs are being sold as well. Help us Paint Paul!
