Founders Brewing releases a new varietal of its popular Kentucky Breakfast Stout with KBS Hazelnut Imperial Stout Aged in Bourbon Barrels.

In Southern Michigan, Founders Brewing has been brewing and barrel-aging some fine Imperial Stouts under its Kentucky Breakfast Stout name. Now this lineup is now known under its monker, KBS, and its latest variant is KBS Hazelnut.

Taking its Imperial Stout and aging it in former bourbon barrels, Founders took the liberty to add hazelnuts, or what we call filberts, to this bold stout. The result is a beer that is full of coffee, chocolate and hazelnut aromas and flavors. Adding hazelnuts has created a flavor profile that is unique and intriguing.

KBS Hazelnut pours a lovely fluffy dark tan head. The flavors in this beer are reminiscent of a hazelnut coffee with a touch of sweetness from the hazelnut. Definitely a KBS variant that is one to give your tastebuds a nice ride. Plus at 12% ABV, a 12oz bottle is great for sharing or hording just for yourself.

“Hazelnut makes for a great infusion into coffee so we decided to bring those flavors to our most epic coffee beer, KBS,” said Founders Brewmaster, Jeremy Kosmicki. “It really adds another amazing layer of depth to an already perfectly balanced and complex beer.”

KBS Hazelnut is available in 4-pack, 12oz bottles and on draft across Founders’ 50-state distribution footprint. To locate a 4-pack of KBS Hazelnut, use the Founders Beer Finder.
