Review: REAL Beer Fest – Honolulu, Hawaii
|Saturday, July 27, 2013 Asha Sawyer Co-Host of The Brew Happy Show and The Brew Happy Podcast attended REAL Beer Festival in Honolulu Hawaii 2013. On tap were 68 beers from 34 Breweries and 15 restaurants. The cost of the event was $60, which includes food and a beautiful glass mug. Music was provided by Piranha Brothers, Natural T and the Hop Heads, and Saloon Pilots. The location was near it’s sponsor, REAL a gastropub in the parking lot of Ward Centers by Ala Moana Blvd. The proceeds benefit The Blue Planet Foundation, which is a non-profit organization finding solutions to eliminate fossil fuels and find alternative sources for energy. Our Brew Happy Crew recommends that you drink responsibly and enjoy the beer. A gastropub is a British term and takes the idea a bit further with enjoying fresh food with craft beer. To round out your night, Asha recommends a cigar from Paul’s Cigars in the Northwest Portland/Vancouver area. (1)

“REAL a gastropub is Hawaii’s first beer-centric gastropub providing the finest selection of craft beers from around the world in a warm, laid back, comfortable environment serving top restaurant quality cuisine emphasizing the “Farm to Table” and “Slow Food” movements of today’s society. REAL focuses on innovative, quality driven, comfort cuisine with continuous culinary, beverage and service education for its team members and customers. After searching for the ideal location in Honolulu for almost three years, REAL a gastropub opened its doors on May 23, 2012 at the Ward Farmer’s Market. Amazing beer friendly pub food prepared by Owner/Chef troy Terorotua and Chef de Cuisine Mike Longworth.” (2)
