Traveling under two hours north of Portland is a perfect weekend destination of Olympia, Washington. The Evergreen State’s Capital City is filled with great shops, craft breweries and just like Portland, a variety of coffee roasters.
These coffee roasters and shops have partnered together to create the newly formed South Sound Coffee Trail. Launched this week, this new coffee trail connects coffee lovers in Olympia to the roasters on an easy to navigate route perfect for a weekend of exploring cafes and roasteries.
A few highlights of the South Sound Coffee Trail include:
Find Tastings and Cuppings.Stop by the Batdorf & Bronson tasting room to sample a variety of roasts or take a cupping class at Batdorf & Bronson or Olympia Coffee Roasting Co. to learn about each coffee’s origin and flavor profiles.
Define Your Coffee Style. Whether it’s latte art, ambiance or aroma that’s most important, an infographic style quiz leads sippers to which local java may jive with their coffee style.
Discover Cafes and Roasters. The trail highlights top cafes, roasters and information from Batdorf & Bronson, Olympia Coffee Roasting Co. and Olympic Crest Coffee Roasters. Visitors can find detail on each café and roastery, along with tried and tested tips from locals and the roasters – don’t miss the house-made Madagascar Vanilla at Olympia Coffee Roasting Co. or the Dancing Goats Roast at Batdorf & Bronson.
“Whether it’s hopped, aged, distilled or caffeinated, Olympia’s locals and visitors alike are all about craft brewed beverages,” said Shauna Stewart, executive director at Experience Olympia & Beyond in a release. “The South Sound Wine Trail and the South Sound Craft Crawl have done a great job of connecting visitors with local producers. We’re thrilled to launch this new hub for roasters as the next and newest iteration in linking culinary travelers with delicious and authentic local experiences.”
To get a first look at the new South Sound Coffee Trail, Experience Olympia and Beyond will be in Portland this weekend. This team will be on bike and foot pouring freshly brewed coffee from Batdorf & Bronson via “jet pack” and hand out complimentary cold brew from Olympia Coffee Roasting Company at the following Portland locations below beginning today, Friday, December 1 through Sunday, December 3.
