Lompoc Brewing and Hollywood Theater's Brew Masterpiece Theater To Show "The Last Waltz"
|Lompoc Brewing and Hollywood Theatre are partnering up for a night of classic rock to usher in the first Brew Masterpiece Theatre Series film of 2014. This Brew Masterpiece Theater will feature the classic rock film of The Band’s final concert, The Last Waltz, accompanied with five classic rock themed IPAs Lompoc.
The Last Waltz was a concert film from Martin Scorsese that documented The Band’s last concert featuring an all-star lineup at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco back in 1976. This film is always at the top of the list when determining the best concert film of all time.
Here are more details from Lompoc’s press release…..
Lompoc Brewing and Hollywood Theatre have teamed up to present a night of all things classic rock as part of the Brew Masterpiece Theatre Series. On Friday, January 17 at 7pm, the Hollywood Theatre will show The Last Waltz, largely considered one of the best concert films of all time, while serving five different Lompoc Brewing classic rock themed IPAs. Members of The Parson Redheads will be performing live covers of The Band. Admission is $8 per person, beer costs additional.
The Last Waltz documents The Band’s final concert, with performances by Paul Butterfield, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Emmylou Harris, Ringo Starr, Ronnie Hawkins, Dr. John, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Muddy Waters, Ronnie Wood, Neil Diamond, Bobby Charles, The Staple Singers and Eric Clapton. Offstage, The Band’s five members give interviews focusing on the nature of life on the road. The friendships, the harmonies, the hijinks, and the wear and tear add up to one last waltz.
The evening will feature five Lompoc Brewing classic rock IPAs on tap, including Satisfaction IPA, a collaboration with Jack Harris of Fort George. This golden colored IPA is sure to satisfy. Brewed with Centennial, Saaz, Meridian and Newport hops, which give off a piney and resinous profile;
Saaz, Nuggs & Rock N Roll IPA, a collaboration with beer writer John Foyston. This bright orange-amber hued IPA provides a head banging hop bill of more than 40 pounds per 15-barrel batch. Saaz, Nuggets, Simcoe and Centennial hops provide a big, upfront and lingering bitterness, while the flavor and aroma offer hints of dank, pine and apricot;
Every Rose Has Its Thorn IPA, a collaboration with Hilda Stevens of Bazi Bierbrasserie. Ten pounds of rose hips were added to the kettle at the end of the boil and an additional 10 pounds were added to the brite tank;
White Album IPA, brewed in collaboration with Fred Bowman. The grain bill is made up of half wheat and half pale malt. Meridian and Chinook hops were added to the boil and to the fermenter, giving off a huge citrus hop aroma;
and Ramble On IPA (still to be brewed.)
