Bike with Hopworks to Henry's Tavern for Skidmore Western Lager Release

Henry's-and-HUB

Press Release:

Hopworks Urban Brewery has teamed up with Henry’s Tavern to create Skidmore Western Lager, a specialty beer that will be featured as beer of the month at Henry’s Tavern during September. To celebrate the release of the beer, Hopworks is calling on the beer and bike loving people of Portland to ride their bikes from Hopworks to Henry’s Tavern on Labor Day, September 1st.

The bike parade will leave Hopworks (2944 SE Powell) at 12pm. The tour will be led by Cycle Portland Bike Tours. HUB brewers and ambassadors will be on-hand at Henry’s at 1pm to with cool HUB giveaways. Henry’s will have a BBQ Special prepared for the event and live music.

Skidmore Western Lager was brewed as a collaboration with Henry’s Tavern. The beer is based on a historic beer style from the West Coast that is a milder version of pre-prohibition American Pale Lagers. The beer is slightly less hoppy than historical American Pale Lagers and utilizes rice as an adjunct ingredient instead of corn due on its abundance in the west. The style eventually evolved into the American Lager that we know today. The most famous Western Lager was brewed by Henry Weinhard.

With Skidmore Western Lager, Hopworks seeks to honor the tradition and location of Henry’s Tavern, by creating a beer representative of something that would have been proudly brewed by Henry Weinhard himself.
