Merle Haggard Tribute Beer Festival At 54° 40′ Brewing Company
“And I turned twenty-one in prison doing life without parole, No one could steer me right but Mama tried, Mama tried,” sang Merle Haggard. He too has joined the list of legendary musicians that have passed away over the past four months. To help celebrate his life 54° 40′ Brewing Company will host the Merle Haggard Tribute Beer Festival on Saturday, May 28, from Noon to 10:00pm.
The founders of 54° 40′ Brewing Company, Bolt Minister and Charlie Hutchins, are both fans of old time country music. With Haggard’s recent passing the two will pay tribute to one of country music’s most legendary musicians. “Merle Haggard’s music has been a continual inspiration to us and we were very sad to hear about his passing on April 6th. So to pay tribute to him and celebrate his life and music we’re throwing a hell of a party,” wrote Minister.
Merle Haggard Tribute Beer Festival will feature a line up of specially crafted special tribute beers from the host brewery, 54° 40′ Brewing, along with their friends at Flat Tail Brewing from Corvallis, Everybody’s Brewing from White Salmon, and Lucky Labrador Brewing from Portland. In addition to the Haggard inspired beers, the Lions Club of Washougal will be at the brewery serving up a southern-style rib dinner. There will also be corn hole boards set up and various giveaways.
Haggard may have left us on April 6, 2016 but his music will live on while drinking a few local craft beers that were inspired by the Okie From Muskogee. Merle Haggard Tribute Beer Festival is sure to be a great time to celebrate a country music legend with a day of classic country music, great beer and great food!
