Dr. Patrick Hayes (top banner picture) from the OSU Barley Breeding Program is organizing a great day of everything you could ever want to learn about barley! For more information visit www.barleyworld.org, but in short there is a full day of activities which you could attend all or pick-and-choose. OSU, thanks in much to the vision and work of Dr. Hayes, is becoming a hotbed of micro-malting activity. So much so that it is very realistic for you to soon be drinking beer at a local brewpub with malt that has been grown and malted all within the Willamette Valley! Some of this local malt will also be available to homebrewers well! The schedule is well-packed with a morning session at the Hyslop Farm and an afternoon session at Wiegand Hall at OSU. At five O’Clock there will be an open house at Corvallis Brewing Supply with a special Nate beer brewed using a some of the first ever OSU malts!!
