Fort George North IV Release

Fort George North the IVth

The Astoria brewery announces public unveiling of new brewery space and tasting room

A holiday beer release and tasting will take place at the Fort George’s new production brewery in the Lovell Building. This is the first event of its kind there—an opportunity to let the public inside this former auto dealership in downtown Astoria after a decade of vacancy. Brewers will provide customers complimentary samples and education about their latest beer, North IV, as well as tours of the new facility.

“It is so great being at a beer tasting. I love talking beer with customers, the insight they have and the input on our beer as well,” said Fort George Head Brewer, Spencer Gotter.

Fort George Brewery + Public HouseEvery year the brewery raises the bar on North, and Gotter says this year’s batch is the best. Inspiration for “North the Fourth”, a strong ale, came from the Christmas tree. With more than 40 pounds of spruce tips, 60 pounds of cranberries, and a two-pound candy cane to an 8.5 barrel batch, this unique brew embraces some of the classic elements of the holidays. A limited supply of North IV 22-ounce bottles will be for sale including case discounts during the tasting.

The new 30-barrel production brewery is located in the Lovell Building, just to the west of the current Fort George Brewery & Public House. The company began restoring the historic building last spring, adding a brewery, events space, tasting room, and preparations for a beer canning line, which is set to arrive in the near future.

The official Fort George Brewery release of North IV is set for Wednesday, November 24th, from 5-6 p.m. in the Lovell Building (426 14th Street, Astoria OR). There will be a North IV pre-release party at Baked Alaska in Astoria on Tuesday, November 23rd from 5-6 p.m. The beer will also be featured at Portland’s Holiday Ale Festival in December.
