Bend, Oregon’s newest way to enjoy craft beer is unveiled, a rolling pub powered by the pedaling of quaffing riders

The Old Mill District and Cycle Pub announced that the newest way to enjoy beer in Bend, Oregon debuted last weekend at the Bend WinterFest in Bend, Oregon. The Cycle Pub, sponsored by the Old Mill District, seats 16 people who seek to enjoy two of Bend, Oregon’s top passions: cycling and microbrews. In short, Cycle Pub is a non-traditional bike where riders sit at a “bar” while pedaling around the scenic area and enjoying beverages.

Noelle Fredland, marketing director of the Old Mill District, which is one of the main sponsors for the Cycle Pub said, “To us, the Cycle Pub is quintessential Bend. It is a great fit for many of the events that happen in and around the Old Mill District, such as the Bend Brewfest, the Gran Fondo, Merrell Oyster Races and many more. We are excited to have the Cycle Pub as a featured attraction in the coming months!”

The Cycle Pub was the brain child of Bend resident James Watts, who loved the burgeoning beer culture here enough to pour his heart into this unique project. It features seating for up to 16 (12 pedaling and one comfy couch that fits non-pedalers), along with cup holders for everyone to hold the environmentally friendly, non-breakable and locally made Silipint cups. A rocking sound system that plays featured tunes to fit the mood, visitors’ own iPod playlists, or live acoustic musicians. In addition, there’s a twin-tap beer tower, beautifully finished wooden bar, convertible top, built-in ice chest and water tank, plus some great lighting.

The Cycle Pub can be booked for two or three hour pre-set tours, specialty routes or entire days to support specific events or outings. The bike can host tours of up to 16 people, and visitors can bring their own beer, wine, coffee or soda aboard, and any food or snacks to fuel the crew.
