Double Mountain’s “The Vaporizer” Release Party

This is a beer that the beer geeks should enjoy with a name the stoners can appreciate.Designed to kick off the arrival of patio season, “The Vaporizer” is a dry-hopped Golden IPA straight out of Hood River. Co-owner Charlie Devereux provides the following description:

“Made with nothing but 100% organic Pilsner malt and Challenger hops, The Vaporizer is very light in color, allowing the hops all the more room to shine. Beautifully balanced and ‘perilously drinkable’, as beer bard Michael Jackson might have said. 6% ABV, 60 BU.”

Charlie will be pouring beers, raffling off Double Mountain gear and generally hanging out on the EastBurn’s fine back patio.

Oakshire Brewing Line Dry Rye Release at Bier Stein

Oakshire Brewing Company of Eugene, Oregon will release their newest seasonal beer, Line Dry Rye, this Thursday, June 4th. This summer seasonal is a crisp and refreshing pale ale brewed with 10% flaked rye and 10% malted rye.

“Line Dry Rye is an approachable but unique rye pale ale crafted with a touch of Oregon Blackberry honey,” explains Brewmaster Matt Van Wyk. “We wanted to a design a very sessionable summer beer, with a little bit of complexity from the 20% rye and local honey in the finish.”

And what of the unique name? According to Jeff Althouse, co-Founder of Oakshire Brewing, “Backyard clotheslines hung with laundry to dry, what a great symbol that summer has arrived. In the Willamette Valley, it seems there are only a few days a year we can actually line dry our clothes outside. Despite our short summers, we can all save money when we keep the dryer idle in the laundry room. The name Line Dry Rye just seemed to resonate with us.”

Line Dry Rye will be available in Eugene, Corvallis and Portland throughout the summer months. Brewmaster Matt Van Wyk and Co-Founder Jeff Althouse will be on hand at The Bier Stein Thursday, June 4th from 5-7pm to give patrons a sample of their new beer. Line Dry Rye will also be featured at the annual Sasquatch Brewers Dinner on Friday, June 5th.

You can get a taste of it on June 6th at the Brass. Master distiller John Couchot will be attending the premier pour, to be held from 2:00pm to 6:00pm. Sasquatch Festival

For those of you who will be in Eugene, the Sasquatch Festival is a must attend event. Heck, if you weren’t planning on being in Eugene, you could even get your butt down there and check it out.The Sasquatch Brew Fest is run by the Northwest Legends Foundation, a Eugene-based non-profit organization staffed by friends of Glen Hay Falconer. Falconer, as you know, is the late, legendary founder of Wild Duck brewing in Eugene and was such a cool guy that parties continue to take place in his name. Like last year’s Sasquatch fest, several craft beers will be on tap from all over the Pacific Northwest.

A large portion of the proceeds will be provided to the Glen Hay Falconer Foundation, a non-profit organization staffed by Glen’s family with a mandate to support craft brewing by providing brewing scholarships in memory of Glen.

Tickets will be available when the festival gates open at 12 p.m. for $10. Entrance includes a commemorative glass and two taste tickets. Additional taste tickets will be available for purchase throughout the festival grounds.

In partnership with LTD, a free day bus day pass will be provided to anyone showing a LTD coupon as they board the bus on the way to attend the festival.
