Highlights From the 27th Annual Oregon Brewers Fest
|
Yesterday was a great day at the 27th Annual Oregon Brewers Fest as we were able to sample a nice array of fine brews. I thought I’d report on some of the highlights from yesterday so if you’re heading there some time this weekend I recommend giving the following beers a try:
Citrafonix from Oakshire, great profile of Citra Hops and a lot of citrus flavor from the addition of juice and zest from many citrus fruits.
Who Ate All the Pies? from Gigantic, a solid gose with a touch of strawberry and rhubarb flavor.
Double Dry Hopped Mosaic Pale from Boundary Bay, super fresh aroma and flavor of Mosaic hops, sessionable and balanced.
Blood Orange IPA from Payette, intense blood orange flavor, almost like a blend of an IPA and blood orange juice, very citrusy and delicious.
Florida Weisse from Cigar City, A berliner weisse style ale with blood orange and dragonfruit added, tart, fruity and thirst quenching
Barrel Aged 3 Beans from Sixpoint, Much like the original brew but with an intense boozy and sweet flavors to go along with coffee and chocolate, careful with this one!
Toasted Coconut Chocolate Porter from Caldera, Possibly my favorite beer I tasted, outstanding chocolate flavors with a great mouthfeel from the added toasted coconut, if you like mounds bars you’ll love this.
Citra Session IPA from Greenflash, This is the beer to get a full pour of, it showcases the Citra hops perfectly, might be my favorite “session-style IPA” I’ve tried.
Hope this gives you a good place to start, have fun!
The Rogue Doppelsticke was my fave. Followed closely by the Scuttlebutt Jalpeño Tripel, Boulder Shake, Laht Neppur Peach Pie and Dogfish Head Strong Ale. Also, I really enjoyed having the “coaster.me” website on the phone for checking the beer descriptions and being able to rate my tastes.
