Vida Vegan Pairs with BridgePort Brewing for Exquisite Beer Dinner

BridgePort BrewingVida Vegan

It’s been too long since we’ve seen a proper beer dinner and pairing geared toward vegans. Sure, every time you hear about a beer dinner, it’s often not just catering to meat eaters, but it’s loaded with meat. Well, a fresh change of pace comes from Vida Vegan, a group of bloggers who decided they wanted to experience a nice craft beer dinner of their own.

On Sunday April 22, 2012 at 6PM, Vida Vegan will partner with BridgePort Brewing chefs Jack Henniger and Jun Robles to celebrate Earth Day with a prix fixe multi-course, exquisitely vegan dinner.

BridgePort, Portland’s oldest brewpub, is located at 1313 NW Marshall. Dinner will include four pub-style courses featuring fresh spring ingredients. Each table will also be served complimentary samples of BridgePort beers, and diners will take home a special gift.

AliceProceeds from tickets sold for this unique event will be donated to Merciful Maiden, a 501(c)3 animal sanctuary in Klamath Falls, Oregon. This is a 21+ event.

Vida Vegan LLC is an independent body formed by bloggers Janessa Philemon-Kerp of Epicurious Vegan, Jess Sconé of Get Sconed!, and Michele Truty of Vegtastic Voyage.

A sneak peak at the menu (subject to change, based on availability and Chef’s whims):

First course:  “Happy Hour”  a trio of small bites:  Vegan mac n cheese with kettle chip crust, vegan red bean slider with smoky aioli, and BridgePort’s “wookie buffalo wings”  with a shaved celery & radish salad

Second course: “Taco Salad” Raw vegetable salad with kale, quinoa, lentils, orange & spicy walnut chorizo topped with an avocado cashew sour cream & crispy tortillas with a light and lemony dressing

Third course: “Meat Loaf” Mini vegan meatloaf with smoky local miso bbq sauce, sweet potato fries & local seasonal market vegetables

Dessert is TBD, but we’ve heard rumors of chocolate–!

Cheers to craft beer lovers who opt for healthier and more sustainable practices, while sparing the lives of animals in the process. Cheers!
