Next week Bazi Bierbrasserie has you covered with three special events over the course of five days. Bazi, Portland’s premiere Belgian Beer Bar, will host their 2nd Annual Mussels from Brussels event, a Goose Island Vintage Brewers Dinner and the week is completed with the 3rd Annual Battle of the Belgians.

Tuesday, June 10th from 5:30-9 PM
2nd Annual Mussels from Brussels
The ultimate challenge returns as reigning Champion Alex Ganum of Upright Brewing and his team defend the Golden Mussel. Four Oregon breweries (Breakside, Lompoc, pFriem, and Upright), four secret sauces created by each brewery for dipping in one pound of mussels served with fries, and paired with their Belgian-inspired beer. But there’s only one “Mussels from Brussels”. Will reigning champion Alex Ganum of Upright Brewing and his team prevail? You be the judge.
Seating will take place every 30 minutes between 5:30-8:30 PM on Tuesday, June 10. Once all votes have been tallied the awards ceremony will take place at 9 PM. Limit of 10 persons per seating. Goose Island Vintage Brewer’s Dinner
Mike Kelley of Goose Island flocks to our City with some of his favorites and rarest beers including the Ogden Belgian Style Tripel, Madame Rose Belgian Style Flemish Red, Class O’88 Belgian Strong Ale, Illinois IPA, Bourbon County Back Rye, and Bourbon County Coffee Stout paired with food all while learning about the inspiration for each beer. Hosted by Maletis Beverage, this events offers some hard to find beers in our state. The menu includes:
Bourbon County Backyard Rye
Deviled eggs pickled with beet juice and yolks with cornichons, house aioli, dijon, and scallion.
Paired with Illinois IPA
Bibb salad with basil, mint, sunflower seeds
Paired with Ogden Belgian Style Tripel
Chicken and waffles with mustard maple syrup
Paired with Class O’88 Belgian Strong Ale
Pork belly confit with crispy skin and apple slaw

Saturday, June 14 from 5-10 PM
3rd Annual Battle of the Belgians
It’s Flag Day so what an appropriate day to have a friendly United States versus Belgium beer competition. Four US Belgian-styles will be selected to go against four Belgians. Think wit vs wit, saison vs saison, you get the point. It’s your opportunity to try some of these beers side by side and let your palette decide your preferred style. Cost is $15 for 8 – 5 oz pours.
