Brothers Day

Once again, another excuse to execute your right to consume craft beer in Oregon. Enter: Brother’s Day-a new State and City Holiday made official by Oregon’s best known bros, the Widmers. Kurt and Rob get jiggy with their second annual celebration of bromantic love. Playing upon a soft spot in the heart of all the brohammers who couldn’t express their bond during high school, Brothers Day at the Widmer Bros Brewery is slated to feature an outdoor beer garden at the brewery, live music, and drink specials. Hook, line, sinker. As billed by the quintessential brethren: “Beer lovers are invited to prost to brotherhood with live performances by local bands Collin Lake & Wellbottom and Tango Alpha Tango, $3 drink specials and a keg-rolling competition for great prizes.”

Seeing’s how my brother is my only sibling and my best friend, I can truly appreciate the meaning of such a marketable undertaking. Throw beer into the equation, well, dude, I’m freakin’ there. Let’s quaff!

WHAT: Widmer Brother’s Brewing is hosting an outdoor beer garden on Tuesday, August 11 in celebration of the second annual Brother’s Day. Beer lovers are invited to prost to brotherhood with live performances by local bands Collin Lake & Wellbottom and Tango Alpha Tango, $3 drink specials and a keg-rolling competition for great prizes. Entrance to the beer garden (21+ only) is free.

WHY: Brother’s Day was made official last year when August 11 was proclaimed a holiday in the State of Oregon and the City of Portland. Kurt and Rob Widmer recognize Brother’s Day as a day to celebrate the success and contributions of brothers everywhere.

To honor Brother’s Day this year, Widmer Brothers Brewing has pledged to donate $10,000 to local Big Brothers Big Sisters chapters in support of the organization’s effort to recruit more volunteer Big Brothers. Fans nationwide are invited to send their bro some Brother’s Day “love” through a collection of snarky e-cards at www.widmer.com/brothers.
