Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen Hosts Their 2nd Annual Oktoberfest

Chuckanut Brewing Co.

On September 28, Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen is hosting their 2nd annual Oktoberfest celebration! We will showcase our Fest Bier 2013 as well as beers from our Bellingham brewery friends and the collaborative Beer Week Beer in honor of Bellingham Beer Week.  Music, games and special Oktoberfest menu await in the covered patio for additional fun.  Things kick off at 5pm so grab a friend and come on down for a mug of our delicious Fest Bier and celebrate like the Germans do.

Beer has played a central role in Germany’s Oktoberfest festivities since their inception in 1810 as a celebration of the wedding of Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig to the Saxon-Hildburghausen Princess Therese. Oktoberfest has grown from a five-day event, anchored by a horse race, into the world’s largest beer fest, drawing more than 6 million people each year to Munich. In the early days the beer consumed during Oktoberfest was a rich, malty copper-colored lager known as Marzen but now the beer has lightened in color and flavor. Chuckanut has created their Fest Bier to emphasize the Vienna malts and craft the aroma in the Dortmunder style with a hint of noble hops.

Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen, located at 601 West Holly St, was awarded the National Small Brewpub/Brewer of the Year 2009 and National Small Brewery/Brewer of the Year 2011 at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, CO. The full service “Kitchen” is open daily at 11:30am to guests of all ages with an eclectic fresh local menu. Bar specials include: HoPPY Hour Sun-Thurs 4-6pm, Monday Night $3 Pints, Kolsch Night Tuesday’s and more.
