Coalition Brewing To Release Limited Barrel-Aged Series
Coalition Brewing is ready to release their first in a limited edition barrel-aged series on Saturday, January 25th. Being released on draft only at Coalition Brewing’s Pub located at Southeast 28th and Ankeny will be Bourbon Dog Imperial IPA.
Coalition’s ever popular Imperial IPA “Double Dog Dare”, has been living in a 4 year Heaven’s Hill bourbon barrel for months, and now he’s ready to come out for all to enjoy. Tropical fruit and wood dominate the nose of this beer, giving way to flavors vanilla, oak, pineapple, and coconut. At 9.0% alcohol and 80 IBUs, this beer displays remarkably little heat, making it a dangerously delicious treat.
On the horizon, Coalition will be releasing more in this series including their Imperial stout “Bring out the Imp” and their Barleywine “Shenanigan’s”. Look for these two releases in the months ahead.
Another release taking place on Saturday, January 25th will be their entry into the Inaugural NW Coffee Beer Invitational. Coalition’s Night Owl Coffee IPA will be featured across town at the Goose Hollow Inn’s NW Coffee Beer Invitational this Saturday from 1:00 to 7:00pm. Then Night Owl Coffee IPA will be released during Zwicklemania on February 15th at their pub with promotional prices and great food specials on offer all day.
Night Owl Coffee IPA is the fusion of two staples of the Northwest, great coffee and great IPA. Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee, roasted by Risteretto provides aromatics of citrus fruit and roast that intermingle with Cascade and Citra hops. A subtle malt sweetness from Vienna malt pairs with a light coffee notes, reminiscent of cold press coffee. This flavor is balanced by citrusy hop notes and a light bitterness. The result is neither coffee nor IPA by itself, but rather the best of both worlds. This beer sits at 6.0% ABV with 43 IBUs.
