Pyramid Unleashes Juggernaut, Bitch

Change is not something that always happens overnight. President Barack Obama has learned this challenge in the first half year he has been in office. This has been the case for the new Pyramid Breweries, Inc. Since being purchased by Magic Hat Brewing Company of Vermont in 2008, Pyramid has made steps in the right direction regarding innovation and progression into the 21st Century of craft brewing. While some of their attempts may have not been as well received as possible, it’s great to see new and interesting beers like the Lip Stinger Saison taproom offering slated for bottle release later this year and the Summer Grifter IPA bottled and released under the MacTarnahan’s branding earlier this year. Yesterday, Pyramid fenced off their Portland taproom parking lot and celebrated the release of another interesting brew, The Juggernaut, slated for fall consumption (ironically it was on the hottest day of the year in the middle of the summer), a well hopped red ale (45 IBU/25 SRM. 5.6 % ABV) with bittering Simcoes and aromatic Cascades. Fans of Deschutes Cinder Cone will certainly enjoy this beer come the crisp cooler months ahead.

The Juggernaut launch party was not as well attended as it could have been but it was a lot of fun and the live music from tow bands The Ravishers and Derby was quite good. There were prizes and giveaways as well as well as a live deejay. Plus pints were just $3 all night.
