This Saturday one of our favorite beer bars in all of Portland will celebrate their 6th Anniversary. Yes, its mid-October and along with the autumn chill in the air comes another Saraveza Anniversary for all to celebrate. On Saturday, October 18th, Saraveza will ring in 6 years of serving pasties and delicious craft beer to the patrons that walk in their door each and every day.

SaravezaSaraveza is a spot that we here at Brewpublic hold dear to our heart. Both of us share close milestones as both Brewpublic and Saraveza began operations in 2008. Here is Brewpublic’s Angelo De Ieso’s first take on the new bottle shop at the time that was set to open their doors on October 17, 2008. Prior to opening, proprietor Sarah Pederson did her time researching from working and interning at breweries along with working behind the scenes at restaurants to gain that knowledge and take it to what we all now know as Saraveza. Pederson said at the time, “I’ve done a lot of beer pairing, purchasing and employee instruction when I worked at Pix Patisserie. Even with all that experience, I know that this town is full of beer heads that know SO much more about beer than I could pretend to. I hope to meet all those people, learn from them and give them an excuse to leave the house.

Well 6 years later Pederson and her wonderful staff have fulfilled this pledge and on Saturday they want to invite you for their annual toast to give thanks back to the endearing craft beer industry.

Throughout the day on Saturday, Saraveza will features some rare beers pulled from the depths of their beer cellar. They will also be having a naming contest for the bar’s “Stag”. One will be able to pick up a ballot and choose the name of the deer that protects and looks over the bar.

Then at 10:00pm will be Saraveza’s Annual Anniversary Toast that this year will feature the last known keg of “Freaky Nasty”. This is the Imperial IPA that several members of the Saraveza staff brewed in collaboration with 2014 GABF Gold Medal IPA winning Breakside Brewery for Saraveza’s IIPA Fest. Also at this time, Saraveza’s Sugar Pimp, Lori Adams Clinton, will be serving this year’s birthday cake for all!
