The Growler Guys To Open First Portland Location on June 4th
Over the last few years there have been more growler fill shops opening up across the state of Oregon. One of the first to do so, The Growler Guys, will be opening their first outpost in Portland on June 4th in the Grand Central Building on the city’s southeast side.
The Growler Guys, founded by father and son team of Kent and Kizer Couch and Mark Knowles, began their expanding growler empire in Bend, Oregon two years ago. Since then they have franchised their operation to now include four locations in Bend and Eugene, Oregon and Richland, Washington. Their fifth location, and first one in Portland, will open on June 4th in the Grand Central Building at SE 8th and Belmont.
Locally owned by husband and wife team Brendan Cocks and Kourtney Nelson, the Portland store is looking to make its mark on the fast-growing growler market with educated staff and a commitment to Portland’s beer and cider drinkers. With 48 taps of craft beer and cider, the menu will feature local brews as well as national and international craft brews via pints, taster trays and growler fills. The specialized menu system features “virtual tap handles” that distinctively shows the tap list.
“Our goal is to have one of most compelling tap lists in the area that appeals to both the beer aficionados as well as the more casual drinker – along with knowledgeable and friendly staff that are the hallmark of The Growler Guys,” says Brendan, who will be curating the menu and running daily operations along with his brother, Bryant.
Local firm Nick Weitzer Company led the tenant improvement project for The Growler Guys. The bar is made out of a single Montana tree that was sustainably harvested after a bark beetle infestation—resulting in a unique and beautiful look.
The Growler Guys offers fresh craft beer, cider, sangria and kombucha. The tap list for each store is always current at www.thegrowlerguys.com.
