Double Mountain and Terminal Gravity Release GRAVITY MOUNTAIN Collaborative IPA

Collaboration brews are quite popular these days. It seems that most breweries have participated in at least one collaborative effort. Now, two of Oregon’s most popular craft breweries, Terminal Gravity of Enterprise and Double Mountain of Hood River, have teamed up to brew their first collabo brew, GRAVITY MOUNTAIN IPA. Double Mountain co-founder Charlie Devereux explains this new tagteam of Oregon craft brewing superpowers, both carried in the state by Point Blank Distribution. It is with great pride and pleasure that we bring you GRAVITY MOUNTAIN Collaboration IPA, a joint effort between brewmasters Matt Swihart of Double Mountain Brewery & Taproom and Steve Carper of Terminal Gravity Brewing Company. This superduo of the Oregon craft brewing scene decided to celebrate their shared histories with a true collaboration — combining both their skills and their favorite ingredients to make something uniquely awesome.

“TG was an key touchstone for us when we decided to create Double Mountain,” according to co-founder Charlie Devereux. “It’s easy to forget the lasting impact Steve and his beers have had on the Northwest beer scene. Steve Carper blazed the trail in many respects and we’re proud to call him our friend and compatriot. Matt & I jumped at the chance to collaborate with him.”

GRAVITY MOUNTAIN combines the breweries’ two house yeasts, their unique base malts, and some of their signature hops to make a strong, blond-colored IPA that’s aggressively hoppy and satisfying. It’s a true marriage of two brewery identities. Here are the specs:

7.2% alc by vol, 16.5 Plato, 70 BU
Brewed with Gambrinus Pilsner (Copeland variety), Marris Otter Pale, Biscuit and Munich malts
Styrian Goldings, Chinook and Brewer’s Gold hops; dry-hopped with Styrians and Brewer’s Gold

Limited release, available in 12oz bottles and on draft in Oregon; draft-only in Western WA.

Terminal Gravity made all the bottled beer and Double Mountain made all the draft. We invite you to compare and enjoy the subtle nuances that our facilities contribute to the two versions. You can do just that at the first-ever (to our knowledge) Cross-Street Release Party, next Thursday, April 26th! Concordia Ale House and New Seasons Market Concordia will get first dibs on draft and bottles respectively; we’ll be pouring samples at New Seasons from 4-6pm, and partying down at the Ale House from 5-8pm with a t-shirt raffle and other good stuff. The ever-elusive Mr. Carper will be there in person with the DM team to sign autographs and kiss babies.
