One of Oregon’s original breweries releases its popular summer seasonal with an updated recipe and for the very first time packaged in 16-ounce cans. Now arriving at all McMenamins locations is its Sunflower IPA in 4-pack Tall Boy cans.

The eye catching, beautiful label is only the beginning for what Sunflower IPA offers your palate. Always a favorite IPA of ours during the summer but with this year’s batch that made its way into these new cans via the Edgefield Brewery, it is an even better version. After cracking a few of these open yesterday we were very impressed with the hop aroma and strong citrus flavors.

Sunflower IPA dates back to the summer of 1995 at McMenamins West Linn Brewery. This beer is said to have been inspired from the sunflowers grown inside the beer garden in West Linn.

For 2017 the brewers at Edgefield Brewery decided to slightly tweak the recipe. Adding some late-addition hops provides for an easier drinking citrus flavor. With a pleasant 6.19% ABV, Sunflower IPA is a perfect summer hoppy bear that will make you want to pop open another.

McMenamins 23rd Avenue Bottle Shop is the place to find freshly canned 4-packs and merchandise for the brewery’s summer seasonal, Sunflower IPA.
