Finally after three years and 18 stops, Deschutes Brewery brought its Street Pub to Portland for the very first time this past Saturday. Held in Portland’s Central Eastside in front of Wayfinder Beer the beer drinkers of Portland showed up and had a great time!
As the four blocks filled with festival goers to sample from the 50+ beers served from a 400 foot bar began to arrive, the buzz around the event was that Deschutes would surpass the $1M fundraising mark for its efforts during the past three years.
At each of the previous 18 stops Deschutes partnered with local charities to donate all proceeds from the daylong event. The Portland stop raised money for Cascade AIDS Project, Children’s Cancer Association, and Farmers Ending Hunger. Deschutes announced that it succeeded and raised $36,000 to help three local nonprofits fulfill their missions in the community to surpass $1M raised in Street Pub’s first three years!
Other highlights during the day was partaking in the Deschutes Shot-Ski (see the video below) that was filled with Pacific Wonderland Lager and drinking some of the various pub only beers. This included our favorites Botanic Ale and Mango Lassi. In all, Deschutes served 150 kegs of beer throughout the event. There were also a generous amount of food carts and vendors supporting the charities such as Hydro Flask, KEEN and Humm Kombucha.
For those of you in Sacramento, California do yourself a favor and venture out on Saturday, October 14th for the Street Pub’s last stop in 2017. You’ll be happy you did!
