2021 Oregon Brewers Festival Has Been Cancelled For the Second Consecutive Year
What we felt was like to happen once again is now official, the 2021 Oregon Brewers Festival has been cancelled. This cancellation marks the second consecutive year that the festival has been cancelled. This year’s OBF joins the already cancelled Portland Craft Beer Festival that was to take place in early July.
Originally scheduled to take place at Tom McCall Waterfront Park in downtown Portland, Oregon from July 28 – 31, 2021, this year’s event will be no more. OBF founder Art Larrance had hoped after cancelling last year’s festival due to the COVID-19 pandemic that things would be better one year later. Well this is not the case. Planning for the massive festival would already have had to begin. With too much ambiguity on where we will be in late July with the virus, it is best to dream for a better festival in the year 2022 that is scheduled to take place from July 27-30, 2022.
The Oregon Brewers Festival was founded in 1988 by Larrance alongside a few other early brewing luminaries during the infancy of what was then known as microbrewing. This annual summer tradition has been one of the nation’s longest and most beloved beer festivals. Let’s hope for a better 2022!

“. . . it is best to dream for a better festival in the year 2022.” I hope this is true. Sorry to be a curmudgeon, but OBF went so downhill the last few years there’s no reason for locals to go. Why should I pay a premium to drink Boneyard Bone-A-Fide pale? Bring back the specialty tent, and drop breweries that don’t make an effort to bring something out of the ordinary.
