McMenamins Breweries Releases Whiskey Peach Double IPA & Nitro Irish Stout

To close out the final weekend of February, McMenamins Breweries is set to release two new beers, one a barrel-aged first and the other a beer that is perfect for St. Paddy’s Day next month. A limited run of Whiskey Peach Double IPA will be available in 500mL bottles and Nitro Irish Stout will be more widely available in 16oz cans.

Whiskey Peach Double IPA is the first beer to be bottled from Cornelius Pass Roadhouse in Hillsboro, Oregon. For the past six years, the brew team has been creating a Double IPA with local ingredients that includes 84 lbs. of peaches and casks from its onsite distillery. So when the neighboring distillery at CPR is finished with the empty casks from creating Billy Rye Whiskey, they wheel the empty barrels to the brewery for aging this robust beer.

The result is 8.64% ABV barrel-aged beer with notes of candied orange from the hops and imparting a vanilla-oak character from the barrel. Look for Whiskey Peach Double IPA on tap at Imbrie Hall at CPR and in bottles to go at select McMenamins for $12.00 each.

Also being released today is Nitro Irish Stout. This annual seasonal brewed in time when everyone is Irish for St. Patrick’s Day will make its triumphant return. Nitro Irish Stout is brewed with Baird’s Maris Otter Pale, Grain Millers Flaked Barley, Baird’s Brown, Baird’s Roast, and Baird’s Chocolate Malt and a simple hop bill of Chinook and US Golding Hops.

At 4.9% ABV, this ebony-colored Stout boasts a thick, creamy and long-lasting head. The flavor is a fantastic fusion of coffee-like roasted barley bitterness and semi-sweet chocolate. A moderate hop bitterness balances a hearty backbone, with a smooth, silky creaminess.

A perfect beer to prepare for next month’s St. Patrick’s Day, Nitro Irish Stout is being released today in 16oz cans at $3.50 each and on draft at all McMenamins locations throughout Oregon and Washington.
