Laurelwood Brewing Closes Its Brewpub but Continues to Brew

Laurelwood Brewing Co. has announced the closure of its brewpub located at 5115 NE Sandy Boulevard in Portland, Oregon. According to the brewery’s announcement on Facebook, it is just the pub that is closing as the brewing operations will continue on and customers can still place keg and can orders via its website at laurelwoodbrewing.com.

The brewery was founded in 2001 by the husband-and-wife team of Mike De Kalb and Cathy Woo-De Kalb. Through the years, Laurelwood Brewing has had locations throughout Portland and in Southwest Washington. The original Laurelwood Public House & Brewery was opened in Portland’s Hollywood district in March of 2001. Six years later the brewery moved blocks northeast up Sandy Boulevard where it continues to call home and recently celebrated its 22nd anniversary.

Today, Laurelwood Brewing announced the closure of its final pub with the statement below.

Attention friends:

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that the Laurelwood Pub will be closed until further notice. We’d like to thank the hardworking staff that ran their butts off during burger week, and we’re extremely grateful for the current staff, former staff members, customers and friends that have all become Laurelwood family.

This isn’t ‘Goodbye’, and the Laurelwood Brewery is still open for business. We’ll continue to produce your favorites and you can visit www.laurelwoodbrewing.com to place keg and canned beer orders.

We sincerely appreciate your support, and hope you’ll continue supporting our brand by frequenting your local watering hole that serves Laurelwood as well as all the dedicated corner markets and chain stores that carry our beer. We’re working hard to expand our reach in Portland and beyond.

Keep an eye on our Socials and website for more details and updates. Thank you again

We’re sad to see the pub’s demise as it was one of the older and longest running brewpubs of Portland and offered up a nice vibe. Much more of a true bar compared to a brewery taproom. It was always a pleasure to sit at the very inviting bar with Laurelwood’s pleasant staff and a great group of regulars. The beer was always pleasant, as was the food options. At least fans of its beers will be able to continue to purchase its beers.

The pub is also home to one of the Celtic Axe Throwers outlets. No word on the status of this location. Once we learn more details, we will update this post.
