Samuel Smith’s Oatmeal Stout now in 14.9oz Cans
|England’s Samuel Smith continues to expand its portfolio of classic style beers being packaged in aluminum cans to now include its fifth offering that’s imported by Tacoma, Washington based Merchant du Vin. The latest to debut in 14.9 oz cans is Samuel Smith’s Oatmeal Stout.
Samuel Smith’s dates back to 1758 in Tadcaster, North Yorkshire, England. For 265 years, The Old Brewery has been utilizing its traditional brewing methods to create some of the world’s best tasting beers. This holds true even today as brewing trends continually change, it’s always satisfying to return to a well-made, traditional beer style.
Through the years, Oatmeal Stout has been brewed by Samuel Smith’s but for a handful of years the beer was discontinued. However, in the 1980s, Oatmeal Stout was revived by The Old Brewery when the brewery realized that it could capture a beer segment on a style that hadn’t been brewed for some time.
Oatmeal Stout is brewed with water, malted barley, cane sugar, roasted malt, yeast, hops, and oatmeal. The beer is also registered with The Vegan Society meaning that it’s safe to consume for both vegans and vegetarians.
After cracking open a can of Oatmeal Stout, this beer pours an opaque black color with a large, beautiful tan head. The nose is full of nutty malts and a touch of sweetness. When it comes the beer’s flavor profile, it is smooth, yet sweet with pleasant carbonation that leads into its expected dark roast flavors. A great, drinkable stout that sits at a moderate 5% ABV.
Oatmeal Stout is now available alongside other Samuel Smith favorites such as Organic Chocolate Stout, Nut Brown Ale, Pure Brewed Organic Lager, and Organic Cider. All are available in 4-pack, 14.9 oz. cans. Find a can of Oatmeal Stout near you by utilizing the Merchant du Vin Beer Finder.
