Amnesia Brewing Announces Expansion to Washougal, WA

Popular Portland microbrewer Amnesia Brewing announces expansion to Washougal, Washington location. The beloved brew masters will open this summer in downtown Washougal. Their new facility will include a tasting room and pub in addition to the brewhouse. Amnesia will be located at 1834 Main Street, in a renovated, early 1900’s era brick building (pictured above, not renovated). Washougal – a Chinook word that translates to “rushing waters” – is situated at the western gateway to the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.
The expansion will allow Amnesia to greatly increase their production capacity and expand their customer base and distribution. Amnesia currently produces approximately 1,700 barrels of beer a year in their North Portland location. The Washougal location will produce up to 6,000 barrels in the first year of operation. Amnesia has plans to incorporate canning and bottling of their signature beers in the near future.
According to Kevin King, the owner of Amnesia, the concept was right from the beginning. “Washougal really fits our personality. The town is under-stated, has a great history, and tremendous potential. It’s not a flashy place, and Amnesia is not a flashy brewery.” He continued by saying, “The first time I stood in front of the building on Main St., I was taken back to Mississippi Street (North Portland) in 2003. Washougal is ready for growth. We just feel lucky that we get to be in on the ground floor again.”
Washougal, Washington and its historic downtown is undergoing a renaissance, led by Lone Wolf Development. Lone Wolf actively recruited regional beer producers to find the right fit that would contribute further to the downtown revitalization effort that is currently underway. “We are excited to be working with Kevin and Amnesia,” commented Wes Hickey of Lone Wolf. “Amnesia is a respected brewery in the region, with a loyal following. This is great news for Amnesia, their fans, and downtown Washougal.”
Amnesia’s new home at 1834 Main St. in Washougal was most recently occupied by the AAA Pawn Shop. An extensive renovation will take place to accommodate the brewery use, including the fabrication of a new 15 barrel brewing system, which will be manufactured by Metalcraft Fabrication in Portland, Oregon.
Washougal is home to Pendleton Woolen Mills, as well as HEARTH Wood Oven Bistro, one of the “best restaurants in Clark County”, according to the Oregonian.

This is great news. Amnesia is an amazing enterprise. Also, Todd Thulin was an amazing basketball player. Go Amnesia!
Amnesia is the best Pub we have visited in Portland. We stop each trip coming North and going South from Mexico to B.C.
This expansion should be great for Portland’s Micro Breweries and beer in general.
It’s not just the beer. The Octoberfest, Polish and other types of sausages are the best I have ever tasted anywhere. And the staff are just great!

just sayin..There is a tap room in Washougal, on the main street, E street, next to the bakery. 28 beers and ciders on tap. Locally owned. A great place to meet and hang with locals and out-of-towners, like me 🙂
