Sierra Nevada Celebration Release and Vertical at Woodstock Wine and Deli On Saturday
|Sierra Nevada Celebration Release Party/Vertical Tasting
1-6 p.m. Saturday Nov. 5, Woodstock Wine & Deli, 4030 SE Woodstock Blvd.;
As the country’s second longest-running holiday beer (Anchor just released its 42nd year of the subtly spiced Anchor Christmas Ale) Sierra Nevada Brewing’s Celebration is a welcome sign of the holiday season and always a lovely beer. (and inspiration for some Oregon favorites, including Mac’s Amber and — I believe — Wreck the Halls…)
Thanks to the foresight of Gregg Fujino at Woodstock Wine and Deli, who stores previous vintages of Celebration in the cooler, we Portlanders get that rarest of treats every year about this tine – a vertical tasting of Celebration. This year, the vintages include 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and the newly released 2016 vintages of Celebration Ale.
Also Portland’s Sierra Nevada representative Kat Finn will be in the house handing out raffle prizes including Sierra Nevada shirts, beer & fun knicknacks and the store will be selling a limited supply of vintage Sierra Nevada Celebration Ales as well as specially priced bottles of this year’s release.
Am I missing something or isn’t it typical protocol that fresh hop beers and beers under 7% shouldn’t be aged as the beer is meant to be consumed fresh as to not take away from hop flavor and aroma?
