IIPA Fest in Full Swing
|As the the weekend blossoms, so does Saraveza‘s Imperial IPA Fest. Last evening, the Hopworks Urban Brewery crew, including brewers Christian Ettinger, Ben Love, Jaime Rodriguez, and Matt “Speck” Speckenbach were out to showcase three heartily hopped brews: Ace of Spades, Evelyn Sunshine IIPA, and Galactic Imperial Red. On Saturday July 17, 2010, folks returning can enjoy more variety as brewers from Widmer Brothers and Seven Brides Brewing will be on hand to raise up glasses of their bountifully spiced IIPAs.
Widmer brings their Deadlift Imperial IPA, a delicious brew that made national news when the first batches were lost in a freakish power outage that browned out a portion of their Northeast Portland neighborhood. Here’s what Widmer says about this mighty brew:
Deadlift Imperial IPA uses Nelson Sauvin hops from New Zealand’s best hop growing region: South Island’s Nelson. This region produces some of the most flavorful hops found anywhere. These hops have an intense citrus, fruity, berry-like aroma and flavor that makes them unique. The result will surely be a welcome workout for your taste buds.
Seven Brides Brewing of Silverton, Oregon knows about hops as well. The brewhouse is the closest to the growoing fields in the Willamette Valley. Recently Seven Brides moved into an enormous brewpub space in downtown Silverton and tonight’s beer, dubbed Frankenlou, was brewed special for Saraveza’s IIPA Fest. Be the first to try it!
Also pouring tonight, a mostly Oregon starting lineup of brews including :
Ninkasi Tricerahops, Alameda Yellow Wolf, Lucky Lab Super-Duper Dog, and the uber-hyped (and hopped) Russian River Pliny the Elder (Santa Rosa, CA). In the beer bullpen, Saraveza’s crew has Southern Tier Hoppe Imperial Extra Pale Ale (Lakewood, NY) and Speakeasy Double Daddy (San Francisco, CA).
Stop by Saraveza (1004 N. Killingsworth in Portland, OR) during this weekend celebration of hoppy brews and get a 32 ounce jar filled with your favorite beer at a generously discounted price. Meet the brewers at 7pm.
